About Gibsons Sweet Memories of the 1960s (New Box)
During the swinging sixties a new era of sophistication was heralded with After Eight thin mints and then Matchmakers chocolate sticks in Orange, Mint and Coffee flavours. There was a growing appetite for Peppermint with Chocolate including the new Roundtrees Cracknel. Other brands on the sweet counter included Jelly Tots, Tooty Fruities, Toffee Crisp, Skippy, Aztec, Galaxy Counters, Treats and Marathon (which became Snickers in 1989).ย
Years ago Robert Opie began to record the history of brands and products that surround us in daily life. His collection can now be viewed at The Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising in London
